Music Activists #2020 is a compilation whose entire revenue go to its contributors: the artists. 34 tracks, 34 artists, 5 continents, more than 2 hours of totally new music.
Warm Winters Ltd. ‘Embraced and Reassured’
"Cortona Church Bells" – "A cacophony of church bells that rang everyday during my residency in Cortona, Italy." The sound can be heard in "Melodies" from 'Everyone is here'.
'Embraced and Reassured' is a compilation of field recordings and sound collages. It is both an exercise in participatory listening, as well a vehicle for travelling across the world, released at a time when travel restrictions prevent most of us not only from travelling abroad, but also from moving freely in our own cities and neighbourhoods.
The compilations offers 10 unique sound documents by recordists from around the globe. Recordings of frogs in Eastern Europe sit alongside conversations about riots in a small town in Southern Chile; the sound of a kettle boiling in a home follows recordings of wind making charango strings vibrate in Morocco. Descriptions of all the recordings can be found below.
All proceeds from this digital compilation will be donated to Hackney Foodbank, an organisation helping local people in crisis.
